Bernice Sandler
Bernice Sandler was among the many women being discriminated against everyday. She applied for several teaching jobs and was shot down each time due to her sex. Bernice decided to take a stand and fight for her right to be treated equal to a man. She began the journey to pass Title IX and end sexual discrimination against women.
The Turning Point
Title IX made it so that female participation in sports was required, so athletic programs began showing interest in women's sports. The NCAA, which had never shown any interest in women's sports before Title IX, began looking into women's athletics. The NCAA began offering fair treatment to women.
